What an album! One of the best jazz saxophone quartet albums I've ever heard, and completely unique because, to the best of my knowledge, no one else has ever recorded this material. Stan Tracey has always been one of my favorites, but I had never heard of Bobby Wellins. He's tremendous, and on this album reminds me of the late, great Charlie Rouse. This seems appropriate, as there are strong Monkish elements throughout this disc.Stan Tracey has been alive and well in my collection for years. There will be other Bobby Wellins discs there in the future. If this is any indication, I'm in for one treat after another.Important Note - I did not get the disc narrated by Philip Madoc even though that is what I ordered. My disc just has the music. This review is not at all objective, but is based on my taste and listening experience.
