I can say that I used two pair of these in Afghanistan but the light tan color in a similar model. After an 8 month deployment they still survived and the soles were roughed up but they were so beaten up I threw them in the trash prior to redeployment. This newer version of the same boots are great. I would not wear them if I were going on a long ruck march. Also the laces are the same as the older versions of these boots. The laces are not made well and over time you will 100% need to replace these laces with real paracord laces you can make yourself. Also the laces are not long enough if you tie your boots the way I do for quick on and off so when you replace the laces when they break, make the para cord laces a bit longer. Aside from those things, the boots are light weight, durable, much more comfortable than issued Army boots but they cannot take a beating the same way real Army boots do like Belleviews. With that said, I'm not in the field much these days and when I am I'm in the desert and I don't do a lot of rucking now because we use trucks or helos to get from A to Z. So for those reasons in my case I love these boots. If I was in the infantry, I would tear these boots up really bad like Nikes and all the other companies that try to make boots for military folks but with materials and design that are made for civilian use not to military standards. So these boots are worth $80 to $100 but try to buy them on sale. They are totally not worth over $100, you are just paying for the UA logo and brand. The little leather UA tab on one of my boots almost tore completely off after one month of just garrison use so that is not a big deal just a label and I do like these boots because they are confy and look great and other Soliders want them but most are too cheap to buy boots when they get issued boots. These boots are great for 8-12 months of rugged daily wear on rocky surfaces but after that, throw them away and get new ones. If you are going to Afghanistan, the sand and dust is a light color powder so get the light tan ones. If not, the Coyote brown will look like crap in about 30 mins from all the dust, sand and powder. If you are home in garrison then get the coyote brown ones. If you are in the military you can only typically wear the coyote brown ones so my comments about the tan color would be if you can wear what you want or your a contractor or a govie. Enjoy!Once they’re broken in, they are very nice…lightweight & supportive. Most of all they are breathable for my 32 hour quad shifts in a correctional facility every week. Well worth the cheap price. Stylish look with the cross swords and underarmor logo are money…Material and shoe laces have held up for 2 months with no issues at all.I previously wore the Nike SFB boots on patrol for about 3 years and I really liked them. I decided to venture out though because I really want to find a brand or boot I Love.First few days of breaking them in I wasn’t sure about them. The outter seam part near the widest part of my foot really made my feet hurt during my shift (see pic with red circle). After a few days of wearing them they are finally breaking in nicely. First time I had to go get my own inserts for my boots. The standard arch on these are a little too high and forward for my foot. So I went out and grabbed a pair of the new balance orthotics and I’m super glad I did cuz now I’m starting to love these boots. They polish up fairly nicely too.Last week on patrol it poured so hard. Even being out in the rain for a major traffic collision my feet were dry. I’m looking forward to seeing how they hold up in the heat. Our summers are brutal, they get 120 out here.Biggest gripe is the laces. They’re chintzy. After two weeks, they’re already wearing out. I never had that issue with my Nikes or other boots I’m worn. I’ll be investing in some good paracorde laces for sure.Fit was pretty good. For me, my feet grew after my second pregnancy so it was kind of a pain figuring out my new shoe size. I tried on a men’s pair of underarmour running shoes and I was a 9. I ordered an 8.5 and 9 in this boot, wore them around the house to see what felt better and I landed up sticking with the 9’s. I’m 5’9”, 160 female and love the way the men’s boot fits.So far these boots have been good and are finally breaking in nicely. Definitely a lot easier to break in than other boots I’ve had. Plus they’re SUPER LIGHT.So update, been wearing the boots for a few months now. Standard 12-16 hours a shift on patrol. My feet hurt every day when I go home. So much that now they're affecting me on my days off.. I was more hopeful that these boots would be as great as the reviews, but I found opposite. I’m already looking to get into a different pair of boots.I purchased these boots because they looked nice and they are waterproof. I hike alot on the weekends for fun and I really needed boots. Sneakers arent very good for hiking, just so you know. The moment I saw these boots on amazon I fell in love with the looks of this boot, so I went right ahead and purchased them.Update 11-22-15It snowed yesterday so I went on a walk with my new boots out in the yard just to see how well they work in the snow. The inside of the boot stays dry and warm when you walk around which is good but when I came inside it was really slippery. I noticed that when the floor is wet the bot loves to slip around like if its a skating rink, and it kind of sucks. Pretty disapointed that these boots arent slip resistant. My first impressions are just that these are very lightweight and comfortable. My dad has several pairs of Wolverine boots and those are basicly like hunks of lead compared to these boots. Seriously these boots are very lightweight and weigh less than most sneakers. Im in love with these boots and I will continue to update this review.Have only worn these shoes a couple of times while writing this review but can safely say this shoes are extremely well made and the materials Under Armour used are top draw...The comfort is very good with port holes to keep your feet from sweltering...My only criticism are the laces are a bit thin but that’s not a major concern at all...Would definitely recommend..Overall happy with the product. I ordered a pair of UA Stellars before the Jungle rats besides looks the UA Stellars are way more comfortable and probably the best pair of boots Iv put on my feet. The Jungle rat needs improvements on the upper no support and my back heel jumps around in the boot a little. If looks are all your going after the jungle rat is great if it’s running and performance Stellars are the way to go.So far so good but I think to review something you at least have to have it a month to see if they are as good as thy are when thy arrive.. I’m using them in Borneo in September so time will tell how good they really areUse this on military duty. Very comfortable and does not stand out as different.UPDATE: After breaking in these boots for something like 600 hours of walking and working in them I've noticed a few things. If I keep the left boot tight it will cripple my foot, there's something about the specific pressure point this boot hits that KILLS my foot. Feels fine while it's not done up too tight. I can work 16 hours non stop walking and lifting without pain.I thought the heel was going to be an issue at first because they're stiff and would rub my foot, but once the boot is broken in and worn at the correct tightness this isn't an issue.I thought the water ports would be horrible for dust infiltration but I've worked landscaping stomping on grass and leaves in a trailer and my feet were cleaner than any other footwear I tried. It is a bit of a shock stepping into wet grass and getting some slosh into your boot though, I wasn't used to that.I'm going to stick with 4 starsTentative 4 stars. I immediately loved this boot, but as I wear it I keep finding little things that are a bit annoying. I got the 11.5 because I normally wear a size 12 and wanted a pair of boots I could wear comfortably snug with some thin socks. These are a little large for me, when I wear thick hiking socks they're almost perfect (or would be if they were broken in) but when I wear some light technical summer socks it's just a bit loose and there are parts of the boot like the heel that dig into my foot. I really don't like the collapsing nature of the heel, there's a strip of leather in the middle and it bunches up and sort of gets sucked into the heel creating more of a ridge there that bothers my heel even more. Basically after this boot breaks in it will either be 4.5 or 3 stars, I'm really hoping they break in nice and I love them for the next year or two. I was looking at the Rocky S2V boots as well and I'm going to grab a pair when I can find them at a decent price. They appear to have a slightly higher solid heel base and less material that will crumple, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I love these boots.
